Q: What are The Good and the Beautiful Book Studies?

A: The Good and the Beautiful book studies are in the works! Three kinds of book studies will be offered:

  1. Family Book Studies: These short book studies will be offered as PDF downloads for some Level 4 to Level 7 The Good and the Beautiful Library books. The guides will help make family read-alouds more fun and meaningful. The guides will include information relating to the setting and topic of the book, such as interesting geography facts, crafts, recipes, activities, and ways to recognize and appreciate the literary value of the book. We do not yet have a release date for the Family Book Studies.
  2. Book Studies: These “good and beautiful” style Book Studies will be offered as PDF downloads or physical booklets (full-color, 5.5″ x 8.5″ booklets) for some Level 8 and 9 The Good and the Beautiful Library books. The Good and the Beautiful curriculum has no Level 8 Language Arts course. The language arts courses go from Level 7 to the high school courses. The Book Studies are designed for students who have completed The Good and the Beautiful Level 7 Language Arts Course but do not want to start high school courses yet. The Book Studies are optional; students do not need to complete any book studies between Level 7 and high school. The guides do not teach any new grammar, punctuation, or usage principles. Book Studies cover literature, writing, geography, art, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, memorization, vocabulary, and review of grammar, usage, and punctuation. The first Book Study will release in August 2018.
  3. Honors High School Book Studies: These “Good and Beautiful” style book studies will be offered as PDF downloads or physical booklets (full-color, 5.5″ x 8.5″ booklets) for some Level 11 and 12 The Good and the Beautiful Library books. These book studies do not replace The Good and the Beautiful High School Language Arts courses. The book studies are an additional supplement for advanced students who finish their language arts course in less than a school year and want to dig into more challenging literature to finish off the school year. Honors High School Book Studies cover literature, writing, geography, art, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, memorization, grammar, usage, and punctuation. The first Honors High School Book Study will release November 1, 2018.
