Fill Your Child’s Mind with the Good & the Beautiful!

Jenny Phillips and her team have spent thousands of hours scouring and reviewing all genres of literature to bring you Jenny’s top-recommended books for children and teens. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often is an updated list released?
A: Once a year on May 15th.

Q: When will the next update to the list be released?
A: September 4th, 2017. We apologize that we were not able to release the list in May this year like normal. All of our efforts have gone into meeting our curriculum deadlines this year. The new book list will have a large amount of new books and a huge new section: “Books That Didn’t Make the List and Why.” It will take us until September to get it all together. Thank you for your patience.

Q: Do you have a copy of the list with just the titles and authors?
A: Unfortunately, no

Q: Why is there a charge for the list?
A: #1) Thousands of hours and thousands of dollars have gone into creating this 100-page document. A small charge helps cover some of the costs of purchasing and screening books. On average, we go through 7-8 books we cannot recommend for each book we can recommend, meaning we purchase and screen over 400 books each year, costing thousands of dollars. #2) We feel that if people have to buy the list, even for a very small fee, they will be more likely to value it and use it.
