About Jenny

jennyAs a Christian songwriter and music producer, Jenny Phillips has shared her love of music across the world, speaking at over 1,100 events in 23 countries and selling over a million CDs. When Jenny’s children began going to school, she turned toward another one of her passions–education. Jenny began homeschooling in an effort to provide a faith-based, high-academic education focused on building noble character. Not wholly satisfied with any curriculum she could find, she began creating her own “dream” curriculum, utilizing her life-long love and study of literature and history. Realizing her vision for the curriculum was a monumental task and wanting to share it with others, Jenny hired a team of editors, writers, educators, designers, and illustrators, and, in August 2015, she launched The Good & The Beautiful. Thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars have gone into this curriculum, much of which is offered for free, in an effort to help children seek out and appreciate the good and the beautiful in life and in learning.

Literature & Education

Jenny has a life-long love of literature and learning and received a degree in English from Brigham Young University. While in college, and after college, Jenny worked as a writer and editor before having her first child. Jenny has written three best-selling books for youth. Driven by the goal to help lead others to literature that is of high moral, literary, and educational value, Jenny has spent thousands of hours studying literature and its effects on character development, reviewing books, and running a national reading program.

Jenny independently released her first album in 1999 after graduating from BYU. Eventually, she became a top-selling artist with Deseret Book’s music label Shadow Mountain and became known throughout the world for her music and powerful presentations. Her music has been translated into 15 languages. She has released 27 albums, and performed at over 1,100 performances in 23 countries. During the creation of her second and third albums, Jenny formed a choir to tour with her. It began small—only eight members performing twice a month. Now the choir has grown to 140 rotating members that perform with Jenny across the world. The Jenny Phillips Choir has recorded on over a dozen CDs. In 2011, Jenny left the Deseret Book music label and all retail stores in order to reduce the stress and time commitments that naturally come with a music label so she could focus more on her young family. In 2015, Jenny turned her focus to education. Jenny still performs on a limited basis and occasionally releases new music exclusively on www.jennyphillips.com.

Jenny lives in Utah with her husband and five children. In addition to music, motherhood, and good literature, Jenny loves family history, volleyball, gardening, exercising, and cooking. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but she enjoys working with people of many faiths as she shares her multi-denominational curriculum, rejoicing in the common good that all Christians share.
